I'm home

Soba finally came home! Here are the first pics of him. We picked him up last night and despite the fact that we were expecting the worst on the car ride home, he actually handled it well. For the hour long drive, he just sat in Cindy's lap. No carsickness, whimpering or barking. Just a couple yawns and he passed out for part of the ride since it was 11 pm and he was probably tired from all the stress and since he had been in a car for an another hour or two earlier in the day.

He has quickly made himself at home as you can see from the pics. The lobster is definitely his favorite toy. He cracks us up. We're laughing every five minutes at his antics. From his cute puppy stare to his ability to just pass out in the middle of our floor as shown in the last pic when he has just exhausted himself from running around.

First pics

Here are the first pics from the breeder. There are actually two red male puppies from this litter. We don't know exactly which one will be ours yet. The breeder wants to wait for them to grow up a little more to determine their personality before deciding which home to place them in. Both of them look like chubby mischievous little furballs! =)

Preparations are being made

We spent about two hours at Petsmart this weekend looking and buying various items for Soba. Never realized how much pet stuff you can choose from. As you can see, we've already set up a place for him to plop down. He's scheduled to arrive on August 11th!

Anxiously awaiting the puppy

So we finally broke down and decided to get a puppy. After a lot of hemming and hawing, we decided to get a Shiba Inu, specifically a red male Shiba. Found a good breeder and got to spend a lot of time with one of the recent dogs that gave birth. Essie had such a great temperament and was so much fun to play with that we decided we HAD to bring home one of her pups. This is a great site on shibas so we'll see who eventually becomes the boss of the house. =)

The cute little furball is only two weeks old and was so tiny so we have to wait about a month before we can pick him up. Until then, we can only look at sites like this and drool over other shiba pups.

We're going bonkers with excitement and think we'll name him Soba. We are already thinking of buying puppy gear, puppy proofing the house and counting the number of days till he arrives. We don't have any pictures yet but can't wait to provide his first pic.
